This is a very popular tourist attraction.  It is over 100 years old and offers over a 100 free programs for all ages. There are over 55 million items here - free books, free classes, restaurants, shops, tours and four floors 'open to the public'.  Its historical collections hold such treasures as Columbus’s 1493 letter announcing his discovery of the New World, George Washington’s original Farewell Address, and John Coltrane’s handwritten score of “Lover Man.”
