NEW YORK….there’s no middle ground.  You either love, love, love it, or hate it to shreds.  It’s definitely not the easiest place to live, but arguably the richest.  The soup of diverse culture, talents, generations, and I believe the delicious spice of humanity makes it unforgettable.  There is a place in town for everybody. You can do it here. The soil is rich with minerals. If you want to do it, whatever it is, I recommend you give us a visit.  We are not perfect, but we are rich with emotions. We are a passionate blend; and those who’ve really tasted of us make it a ride or die experience. The ebb and flow does not alter our elasticity.  Markets eventually balance themselves out. Housing is no different. Prices will and do fluctuate. It’s the city of negotiations. Our politicians work, our people care, and we love our city.

Newsflash

Indian steel tycoon’s family paid $25M for Trump International pad

It wasn’t immediately clear if Lakshmi himself or one of his relatives bought the 6,360-square-foot unit from Japanese real estate developer Katsumi Tada. The apartment sits on the 47th floor of the 52-story tower at 1 Central Park West.

One in two New Yorkers think the city is unaffordable, and that securing a home here is a major concern for many of us. Yet the report also found that most New Yorkers find the cost of their own home manageable. Somehow, in this insanely expensive city, many New Yorkers are managing to make it work.

WISE OBSERVATIONS

Da BOOGIEDOWN BRONX…

The Bronx was on top in February’s multifamily market

TIn the Bronx, transaction volume went up by 43 percent to 10, building volume went up by 63 percent to 26, and dollar volume went up by 213 percent to about $154.3 million. The market was buoyed by the aforementioned sale of the Related portfolio.

The City Council is expected to approve rezoning a stretch of Jerome Avenue in the Bronx on Thursday, another neighborhood rezoning that the de Blasio administration hopes to achieve in pursuit of its housing goals, according to Crain’s. The city anticipates that this rezoning will lead to about 4,600 new apartments being built.

NYC Highlights

https://streeteasy.com/blog/2018-housing-moving-trends-report/

Though New Yorkers find the city hard to afford, the power of its economy remains a major draw. Survey respondents rank relocating for a job as among the least likely factors that might drive them to leave New York. Especially amid the current economic boom, residents are not eager to leave the city.

NYC landlords offer more concessions than ever as demand for affordable rentals grows.  Concessions now make up roughly half of all rental transactions.

Massive Woodside residential development will create 561 apartments. The apartments will be spread out between two towers, and plans also call for retail and parking. As per Madison’s plans, there will be a 14-story and 17-story apartment building at 69-02 Queens Boulevard. In addition to the apartments, there will be 5,600 square feet of retail, and 242 above-ground parking spots.
